To commemmorate the 2nd anniversary of this story I made some new portraits. Yes, they have 3-point lighting and black backgrounds again. Be grateful!
Considering how short term and generally short my last projects I've done were, the fact I'm still writing this story 2 years later is a great thing, and what's even better is the people that have been following it since the beginning. Trying to plan such a long project has been an absolute nightmare and not without its flaws, but I'm glad we've made it this far. I hope you are all still enjoying the story.
We still have a lot to come- the thick of the conflict, and we will lose one or two major characters- one of those deaths will really bring the story title to light and cause some major division amongst people once united. And what about the newly revealed character Valravn - a gryphon, in the modern day? What more will we find out about her?
Thank you so much to my regular readers, you are all appreciated. < 3
(PS: I forgot Alistair, whoops. I didn't bother doing one for Volpe.)
Former main character Everyone's favourite up-and-coming witch and arcane teacher, Áine.
The Peteran abbess, Clementia. I wonder what she'll bring to the monastery. Will she need Violeta's words and not antagonise Juniper, or will she give in after Juniper tried to have her killed?
The man who escaped the clutches of Volpe and the only person to have ever survived an altercation with Oskar Nivelheim. A fisherman who just wants to live a normal life for the most part- Dan!
Quite possibly the most precious character alongside Kat, the emotional, gentle and loving prodigal woodworker Eli Annorin, who finally managed to escape the reputation of the rest of his family once he made a name for himself as a craftsman and a student of the Nivelheim family. But can someone like Eli truly thrive in a world like this one, full of people who can't go five minutes without lying to their loved ones or trying to off somebody?
Ex-witchfinder and proud papa wolf Gideon Reyes. He doesn't give a fuck if you're a Tartosan noble or a formidable ex-soldier, screw with his kids and he'll come for you. Now he's getting on a bit though, so we'll see if he mellows out or not.
Fervent ex-Eye of Jacob and voice of the Watcher, Julian Jourdain. No longer with us, but at least he eventually saw the errors of his ways. But can his successor Juniper do the same?
Herbalist, divination card reader, cunningwoman and owl mum Katlego- who is clinging onto her pacifism as much as she's able to. But upcoming events may push her to do something she may regret...we'll see.
Ex-soldier, vampire and woodworker Oskar Nivelheim. It does feel strange not writing about him after him taking over half of Act Two and Three. I flipped a coin very early in the story to see whether it would be Oskar and Violeta who died and he lost out... He's not the only character who had a coinflip decide his eventual fate, however. There's still some people lurking around who've been destined for death, all decided by a random outcome I did during Act One.
Leading physician and Annorin family patriarch, Owen. It's hard to know exactly what's going through his head. Is what he doing really an attempt at philanthropy, or is it merely damage control and protecting what's left of his reputation? What good is that reputation if the secrets he has become revealed?
My personal favourite of all of these pics - ex-Peteran abbot and devotee of Lunvin, Reynold. He's had a pretty rough time in the past act. He's been living happily and quietly in Glimmerbrook with his partner and raising his daughter, trying to teach her what it means to be a child of Lunvin.
Róisín, a special character- quite possibly the youngest mooncaster left in Henford, and possibly the world. Trouble is, growing up as both a witch and an eventual werewolf comes with its many challenges, and teenhood is challenging enough as it is. Where will things go for her? Will she be more like her father or her mother?
And lastly, Violeta, everyone's favourite mean old vampire who's doing her best to be less mean and keep focused on her painting, and has done much healing since her son's death. Still, this is Divided, and only a small handful characters actually know how to stick to pacifism. Perhaps someone like you is wasted on attempts at peace, Violeta...
