CONTENT WARNING: Some blood. SPOILER WARNING: I suggest not reading until you're caught up to at least middle of Act Two.
Originally, this Halloween Special was going to be a backstory chapter for Iris- but I didn't want to make this Halloween Special a backstory chapter in the end. Having potentially important backstory as side material (like the Oskar chapter) was a bad decision, since a lot of that backstory ended up vital to the story and character and I don't really want important story material being included in optional spin-off stuff for the most part. I couldn't think of any fun ideas for canon or non-canon mini things to do, so instead I did some occult swap imaginings of the Divided cast, based on the supernatural creatures that we know exist in the story's world.
Starting with Owen Annorin, but as a vampire.
Strangely enough, this version of Owen seems to think bloodletting is in fact the perfect cure for every possible ailment...A truly bloodsucking billionaire. XD
I really loved doing this one, it's so fitting for him. In the same way that Violeta's dark vampiric form has draconic elements because of the character she's based on, Owen's grey avian wings are meant to bear resemblance to his family's symbol of the gryphon. (I originally was going to give it bird feet to look more like the weirder darker-dark forms, but I didn't bother.) The mask is meant to resemble a bird's beak a little. It's a conversion of Dottore's mask from Genshin, fitting given Dottore's English title and Owen's occupation.
I decided to go with the wings that accompany a 'darker' dark form, but not quite all the way there yet.
And now onto Áine, as a faerie!
Her namesake is an Irish goddess of summer, as well as other things- hence the bright colours and outfit. She's also considered Queen of the Fae in some lore/stories. Whilst the Fae don't really come up in Divided (at least not yet in my plan) they do exist in that universe, as we learn in Vitriol, and Áine believes strongly in them. I like to think she and Róisín leave offerings somewhere around the house or in the woods for them now and again. Whilst she of course isn't a Fae or goddess in-story, she still has the vibe about her. She looks so happy in these pics. < 3
Next, Reynold as a vampire.
Not as far-gone in vampiric terms as the Owen one, because I think Reynold would have a lot of control over it (and also can't get away with bloodletting as a Peteran priest.) If he can prevent a WEREWOLF TRANSFORMATION FOR MONTHS, he can hold off drinking blood. I imagine he'd mostly drink plasma fruit. Since wolves are a part of a lot of vampire lore in that they can often turn into one, I decided to give him his own wolf pack that are loyal to him. He still gets to keep the dadbod because Reynold without a dadbod will never happen AU or otherwise. XD
And yet another vampire...Eli!
Clearly trying to be like Oskar here. XD I feel like he wouldn't be a scary vampire. That's probably not blood, it's probably plasma fruit juice. I'm sure he'd have fun just trying to look scary and mess about : P And he'd feel so guilty if he ever drank from a person.
And now for...Oskar, Violeta and Dinah as witches!
I feel like Violeta would live on her own in the woods and be into Wild Magic as well as alchemy. Maybe a few cats. Oskar would probably be into both Wild and Practical magic, and would find being a witch an amazing excuse to wear cute witchy dresses. And Dinah, well, I like to think she just likes to look cute and make friends with terrifying animals. I imagine she probably thinks the best kind of magic is...well, you know what she does for work, figure that one out for yourself : P I think with the mostly-black outfit she's been getting some fashion ideas from Oskar. : P And we get to see Violeta looking closer to what she looked like as a human, with blue eyes.
And lastly...Clem as a werewolf!
She looks quite different without the scars. In the pic with the silver mask, she's wearing a sort of ritual / ceremonial mask used by mooncasters to honour Lunvin as well as their wolf cousins. She looks cool as a mooncaster. I think when she was younger Clem wished she was a werewolf. As an adult...Not so much.
